Our very own Anna Minaya, one of our Community Advocate and Educators, was selected as a distinguished Latina leader honored by the MA Black and Latino Legislative Caucus at the Latino Excellence on the Hill event on September 25! In the Caucus' own words, "this special event recognizes the outstanding and transformational work of Latinos throughout Massachusetts." While Anna attended the event virtually, we made a special trip down to the State House this week to meet with Senator Sal DiDomenico who nominated Anna for the award.
Senator DiDomenico's nomination included a description of Anna's contributions to her community and the importance of her work at CEOC. Here's what he had to say about Anna (which is also in the program book):
"A proud Dominican and trusted leader, Anna works directly with individuals and families to navigate CEOC's critical services including SNAP, health insurance, housing assistance, and tax preparation. She delivers community-based mental health support through CEOC's Journey to Hope program, regularly supports neighbors in the food pantry, leads the agency's MBTA income-eligible reduced fare application program, and staffs outreach tables at affordable housing developments and community events.
Anna's work represents the very best of community-centered service. She meets people where they are, breaking down barriers to access and ensuring that every resident feels seen and supported. Through her tireless advocacy and compassionate care, Anna has helped thousands of neighbors secure stability and opportunity. Her leadership embodies the values of equity, dignity, and inclusion, and her impact can be felt throughout Cambridge and the greater Commonwealth."
We could not be more proud of Anna on receiving this well-deserved honor!
